A friend
wondered why—with
my large, attick-ed home place—
I chose to go to the mountains
to write.
And yet
she, too, escapes
to a second dwelling
away from cats and colts and her
neighbors.

No squirrels,
no crows—only
the intrusive droning
of the nearby park cleaner’s leaf
blower.

After
yesterday’s rain
the flamboyant dogwood-
reds, the fiery hickories lost their
colors.

I feel like I was there with you. Oh yeah, I was:)) I remember the leaf blowing day…
ReplyDeleteI think I'm your friend in the second and third cinquains. lol Couchwood seems to be the perfect place to write.
ReplyDeleteYes, Freeda, that's what you said to me and that's what I thought. It isn't the best place to write because I have 3 cats that want inside, outside, back inside, etc. I have leaf-tracked-in dirty floors. I have the daily papers to read/work puzzles, etc. But if I have to write here, I can.
DeleteLovely picture and poems, as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, I check the blogger dashboard daily for spam, but I may have checked something on settings that catch spam because I haven't had any lately.
