Post-Christmas poems - as 2011 exits

HAIKU

five turtledoves
on an iron fence~
the light rain

streets jammed
with abandoned vehicles
because of the snow
~~~

after I break the ice
in the bird bath
bluebirds stop to drink
~~~

finch and bluejay
coloring the grayness
of winter
~~~

icicle lights
real icicles
tonight
~~~

an icy day
the feeder nearly empty
of seeds, but filled with birds
